Organic, Natural, Simple & Pure
Handcrafted herbal products for your health, beauty and your home made by me, Lisa Lee.
In 1999 I purchased my first book on herbs that would begin my journey to becoming an herbalist. Throughout the years I have continued to educate myself, not only about herbs but also on the environment, recycling, carbon footprint, whole foods, organic gardening, chemicals in products, product testing on animals and on how I could become self-sufficient and better able to take care of myself and my family in a more natural, more affordable, healthy way.
It has been my dream, my vision to create a place where people could go to and know that they could trust in the products to truly be simple, pure & natural. It can be so confusing and overwhelming trying to switch over to a greener lifestyle. Most often people starting the switch do not realize that many of the products that are listed as natural and organic, really aren't those things at all. So much money is wasted by good people who are trying to make an honest difference. If it is in a health food store it has to be good for you, right? No, not at all.
Most consumer products are actually filled with toxins that can enter your body just by breathing, swallowing and/or contact. There is very little regulation for the labeling of products as Natural and/or Organic. The government has limited power when it comes to the testing of products and the regulation of manufacturers.
According to RM Barry's publication Is Your Home a Healthy Home? (for more info please see www.RMBarry.com):
The FDA is the closest thing to a regulatory agency for the personal care industry and again, has very limited power. In referring to the same brochure mentioned above, Mr. Barry has these startling facts about our personal care products:
*778 caused acute toxicity
*148 caused tumors
*376 caused skin and eye irritations
You must also be aware that manufactures will often "lump" ingredients and list them as inert ingredients which means not active. However the non active ingredients can often times be more hazardous and harmful than the chemicals that have been identified on the package as active ingredients. All of this can be very confusing and disheartening.
So what if the label says "organic"? Well, the term "organic" pertains to the farming practices used to grow plants. The term is relevant to skin care when plant ingredients are part of the product formulation. Organic personal care contains some, but not necessarily all, organically grown ingredients. The wording on the package may include one of the following...
* 100% Organic - This, together with the USDA seal indicates the product is made from entirely organic ingredients.
* Organic - This term, combined with the seal signifies the product contains at least 95% organic ingredients.
* Made With Organic Ingredients - This indicates the product contains at least 70% organic ingredients. The organic seal will not be present. (Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/4138215)
This is my mission: To provide products that are as close to Nature without chemicals or animal testing and that have a minimal impact on the environment that are good for your health and that are truly Simple, Pure & Natural. I believe that Mother Earth, Gaia, has given us everything that we could possibly need to not only survive but to keep our bodies healthy, naturally. There are no secrets. My products are made from base recipes developed by other herbalists and who have become my mentors. I try to wild-craft herbs from the land around me and those that I cannot, I purchase from MountainRoseHerbs.com a sustainable and reputable company. I buy and harvest only certified organic ingredients and make my products in small batches so that when it arrives to you, it is as simple, pure & natural as I can make it and has the most minimal carbon footprint that I can give at this time .
In keeping my carbon footprint down I am always looking for better containers for my products, weighing the pros and cons of what is available and what I can purchase. The packaging material that I use is recycled from many sources. I make my own eco-friendly labels (which can change time to time ~ that is the gypsy spirit in me ;O)), create and edit my own website, eco-freindly business cards, blogs ~ basically, short of the marketing (thank you Jamie), I do this business from beginning to end myself (forgive me any editing errors please). It is my goal to be able to live off the land as much as possible, foraging, eating wild edibles, organic gardening, making my own tinctures, lineaments, oils, infusions, and medicinals providing a richer, healthier environment for my family and my pets, while educating and providing for others, a venue to do the same.
Peace & Green Blessings to all,
Lisa Lee

According to RM Barry's publication Is Your Home a Healthy Home? (for more info please see www.RMBarry.com):
- A product that kills 50% of lab animals through ingestion or inhalation can still receive the federal regulatory designation "non-toxic."
- Of the 17,000 chemicals that appear in common household products, only 30% have been adequately tested for their negative effects on our health; less than 10% have been tested for their effect on the nervous system; and nothing is known about the combined effects of these chemicals when mixed within our bodies.
- No law requires manufacturers to list the exact ingredients on the package label.
The FDA is the closest thing to a regulatory agency for the personal care industry and again, has very limited power. In referring to the same brochure mentioned above, Mr. Barry has these startling facts about our personal care products:
- The FDA cannot regulate a personal care product (which refers to just about anything we use on our bodies) until after it is released into the marketplace.
- Neither personal care products nor their ingredients are reviewed or approved before they are sold to the public.
- The FDA cannot require companies to do safety testing on their personal care products before they are sold to the public.
- The FDA cannot require recalls of harmful personal care products from the marketplace.
- The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health analyzed 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products. The results were as follows:
*884 of the chemicals were toxic *314 caused biological mutation
*778 caused acute toxicity
*148 caused tumors
*376 caused skin and eye irritations
